Notes

Crystal Palace bamboo needles are manufactured by a small firm in Japan that has been making fine bamboo products for more than 80 years.

Many other bamboo needles are treated with a coating that can chip or peel off over time, but Crystal Palace needles are treated with resin and then cured. This hardens them off and prevents warping, splitting, or any damage from insects.

With age and use, Crystal Palace bamboo needles develop a wonderfully rich and dark patina I have yet to see in any other bamboo needles.

In Your Hands
They are warm to the touch, lightweight, and remarkably durable. A short taper leads to a moderately dull tip that won't snag complex yarns.

The opposite ends sport round little caps to keep your project from falling off. Despite their size (especially on the larger needles), these caps don't introduce any uneven weight distribution while you work.

Appropriate Uses
The needles come in lengths of 9 and 12 inches. The 12-inch needles work best when you have plenty of room for the needle ends to flail around like loose oars.

If you're in tighter quarters and if your project permits, you may prefer the 9-inch needles instead. These shorter ones also make ideal starter needles for new knitters embarking on that first bulky scarf.
