Kned the Ram welcomes Shelter

For months, Jared Flood has been sitting on a big secret. Flood, the talented designer and photographer behind Brooklyn Tweed, has been creating his very own yarn, an ideal skein sourced and spun in the United States.

The yarn is called Shelter, and it made its official debut last week. Shall we take a swatch?

This Weekend
Road trip fans, this is your weekend. In Sugarloaf Mountain, Maryland, you're invited to take the self-guided Countryside Artisans Fiber Farm Tour on Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, 14 stores in New York and Brooklyn will participate in the second NYC Yarn Crawl. And in New England, the New Hampshire Wool Arts Tour (also self-guided) takes place on the backroads of southern New Hampshire. Just follow the sheep signs. Find details in our calendar of events.

In the Forum: Orphan Projects?
Is Jan the only one who knits for fun and adventure, usually without any idea of a project's intended recipient? Or do you start out on your projects with a clear vision of where they'll end up?
