Knitter's Review
January 16, 2003

handspun silk and jade plantWe often use the term "spin" to describe the context in which we frame a story. The same tale can can be comic or serious, optimistic or pessimistic, depending on the spin we give it.

Spin is just as decisive a factor in the production of yarn, something I was reminded of this week.

Our profiled yarn has almost no resemblance to the silk/mohair/wool blend that we reviewed last week, but they were both processed in Japan and share almost identical fiber compositions.

New This Week
Noro is known for its striking use of colors, but this time there's an added twist. Literally! Read the review.

Pads Aplenty
Your response to our calendar sale has been tremendous! What moves me most is the idea of knitters around the world watching the year unfold to the same images and thoughts. Thank you for being a part of this.

Our new writing pads are getting rave reviews. If you've ever said, "Darn it, where's a pad of paper?" then these are for you.

Heifer Fundraiser Update
Your contributions keep coming! Because interest in helping is still high, I'll continue collecting contributions to the Heifer Project through the end of this month. Learn more.

January Giveaway
We may not be able to visit a spa in person, but we can still pamper ourselves at home. That's why at the end of this month I'll pick one lucky newsletter subscriber to win a $50 gift certificate to Bliss, a New York spa that also offers wonderful goodies through its online store.

As always, thank you for your readership. Happy knitting, and I'll see you in the forums!
