Last year we decided not to exchange gifts at Christmas because the economy was so bad. The economy hasn't improved all that much so we may be facing another year without our not-so-secret Santa presents.
So I thought we could celebrate the good years by sharing our favorite presents from our gift exchange. Mind you, I'm not talking about matching gifts to givers' names, because I already know that info has blurred over the years for me.
No, what I would like to do is simply list the gifts that touched us in some way or were memorable for some reason.
For instance, while I have received numerous gifts (I go back several years here at KR) some of my favorite presents were:
*a pink knitted shrug that I still wear but have almost worn out
* flavored teas
* the pointiest, sharpest pair of scissors I've ever owned
* a purple neck warmer/mini capelet
Those are the presents that I can remember right now, at 10:45 at night. What presents do you fondly recall?

I fondly recall a lovely aran knitted bag, mind blowing lace bookmarks, a lovely knitted doll that looks like me!! and a great hat and mittens (not at teh same time, but from teh same source) that I still wear faithfully.
I gave some of my favorite things as well. I made some awesome fingerless gloves, a knitted messenger bag, and a scarf that is possibly made out of my favorite yarn ever.
My mother made me a homosexual. And if you give her some yarn, she'll make you one too. ~quentin crisp http://purlewe.typepad.com/ |

I only took part in one KR Christmas gift exchange. Kristin Omdahl was my swap partner -- she designed and knitted a beautiful lace shawl in Malabrigo lace which is now one of my prized possessions!
I got other lovely presents/swaps from KR members like truly violet's handmade soaps and Jayme's handmade stitch markers :) |

I was looking for some black yarn the other day and found another one of my gifts - two kinds of pink yarn to make felted slippers. For some reason, I feel like I can't make my slippers until after I've made some for the family. At first, I was simply intimidated by a felting project; then I ended up buying yarn to make them felted clogs!
But I really can't wait to make myself some official fuzzy pink slippers!

I received a multi-colored scarf knitted for me by a friend. This was my first time ever knitted gift item received and I know I'll treasure it for years to come.
Happy knitting,
