Hi, all! I'm working on a scarf for my sister using the following pattern over 38 stitches:

Row 1: DC in each stitch across, ch 2 turn
Row 2: Puff in each stitch across ([yo, insert & pull loop]2x, yo and draw through 5 sts on hook), ch2 turn

The piece seems to go at an upward angle, from left to right, when you are facing row 2. I'm using Patons Kroy 3-ply superwash sock yarn, which is 85% wool and 15% nylon.

I've never used superwash for anything but socks, so I'm not sure if it's the pattern, the yarn or what. Hoping it will block out, but wasn't sure if anyone had any thoughts.

Using a size D hook, by the way.

Many thanks!

You post is dated last November. . . I'm hoping I am not too late in replying!

No, I don't think your yarn is the problem, but rather, your pattern instructions. I think this angle is being created by the numerous puff stitches on one row. The puff stitch is much wider than 1 double crochet and is causing a "puff overload" on the 2nd row of your stitch pattern. You need to create some space.

Are you up to the idea of tweaking the pattern a bit? You can solve the angle problem by doing following these instructions:

Row 1: Dc in each stitch across, ch 3, turn.
Row 2: Skip first dc, * puff stitch in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc, , repeat from * across.

I hope you find some help here!
