All, I am looking to embelish two enormous felted christmas stockings with off-white or natural roving. What ar the best sources for this type of fiber? Also, since I'm sure this question has been asked, what would be a good keyword to search for a primer on the different types of wool for dry needle felting? JG |

i don't needle felt (except to embellish) but i do a great deal of wet felting. two of my favorites are mielke and marr haven (and i'm sorry, i'm at work so i don't know the sites, but you can google and they will come right up. i particularly like to embellish with the curly yarns like mohair that are slower to (wet) felt but have fabulous texture. if you just talk to barbara at marr haven, she'll tell you everything you need to know.

For needle felting, I find that Harrisville's fleece is wonderful. It's a merino blend. I sell it in my shop and have a "mix and match" box especially for felters. That way they can fill up a bag of different colors in any amount and just weigh it when they're ready to check out.--Debbie

Hi everybody,
We produce unspun yarn and carded wool for needle felting. We use a Gotland/Merino blend when dyed, gets fantastic color shades due to the dark and light fibers intermingled and it felts easily getting a lovely rustic feel.
Please take a look at our website www.oldmill.ee and let me know if you’re interested.
Happy felting

i like the Felted Ewe rovings (the natural ones are terrific if you are looking for natural/offwhites, browns etc) and also i just got a couple of samples from Halycon Yarns - i plan to try out the various samples on some bags i hope to make soon (ha ha) ---and see which ones i especially like and either order larger quantities or - hey - more samples!
i have a few photos of the sample cards and so on under Felting 102 in my photo album (link below) also have direct links to The Felted Ewe and Halycon Yarns there... [meow]

Alpaca Direct has been a good source of colored rovings for me. Free shipping on orders over $50, too.
