So who else is as excited as I am? This week's newsletter has all the details the wonderful instructors, the beautiful setting, the prospect of being with my favorite people in the whole world... I can't wait to send in my application!

I thought it would be easy to choose the classes I'd like to take, but I keep waffling. How about you?

The list of classes is amazing. I may have to just toss a coin.

I will be away on Aug. 2 but luckily my friends who I am visiting have a scanner.

I am so excited just thinking about this wonderful weekend. Just the thought of sending in my application makes me smile.

I am planning to apply this year. The classes look terrific! I know that the directions say not to list the same instructors on Saturday as you do for Thursday extension. I would happily take any of the classes but would prefer to start the weekend with certain ones and have the others after that. Does which classes you pick for which sessions affect whether you are chosen for the retreat? Any tips from some of the more experienced attendees?

CynthiaQuilts-

No, I don't think that classes you pick affect whether you are chosen for the retreat. In the past it seems that the retreat has just cut off after a certain number of slots were filled up. (or after Clara's FAX machine overheats and zonked out from the pressure.) :D

I will admit I am biting my nails over here. I have my roomies lined up (YAY roomies!) and I have my fast sneakers on for my race to the FAX machine.

So FAX is the way to go rather than email? I have no idea what the application looks like. I have my classes chosen but being close enough to the college application process (for my son), I am thinking that maybe there's an essay I should be writing :)

Fax or email are both fine. In the past we have jokingly referred to the hard work Clara's FAX machine does one day a year. :D

No essays required! Just love of knitting.

Purlewe - Thanks for the information. I am eager to attend and I love knitting so I have those bases covered :) It is nice that the process Clara uses lets you know relatively early if you are in! It is agony waiting for a very long time and not knowing. I hope to meet you in November!

All the classes look great! And I'd be happy just to sit in the lounge all weekend anyway!

How do.

Counting down to the Retreat! Cannot wait to see my pals & to see my new pals.

Purlewe, I love your sentence that the Retreat is your restart to your knitting year - well said!

Where does one fly to, and can I bum a ride with anyone who's going? (Not that we know who will be accepted!) I'm thinking about it; might be some very deserved down time.

Ceil, all the details are here: http://www.knittersreview.com/article_event.asp?article=/retreat.asp. Everything you need to know, from classes to accommodations to travel is there. The closest airport is Rochester, and attendees who want to carpool or share rides from the airport usually start a thread about it when they begin making travel plans.

I can't wait to send my registration form in!

I've consulted my bank account, which has given me permission to apply for the retreat this year. So I'm tossing my hat into the ring for the first time. I hope I get to meet the lot of you--and refresh a friendship with a friend from Philly. Maybe there will be oysters in Canandaigua. Fingers crossed.

I am super excited about the registration! This year I am hoping to win the prize for 'most distance travelled' since I would be flying in from London.

Minh, that will be hard to beat! I will be escorting my three little visiting nieces around the aquarium at noon on Friday so have downloaded various iPad apps that purport to enable me to complete the form and fax it on the fly. Fingers and toes crossed that it works. Trying to figure out which aquarium resident I should pet for good luck!

I have never gone before. My question is if you and a friend want to go together, can one of us register both on the same form?
Thanks in advance.

You'll need to send in two registration forms, but there's a place on the form to indicate that you and your friend are going to be roomies. That's so that the Retreat Registration Wizard (a.k.a. Clara) will know you're coming together!
