Happy New year to all. It is our wedding anniversary today (6th). 45 years. seems like it was only yesterday that we got married. We are so lucky as we are very happy and three lovely all grown up by now kids and three grandkids. Only one of our children has had kids. We have cats as well to make up for lack of grandchildren. Ceil, don't worry about starting the New year with a cold. Look at it this way - things can get better.

Wow, 45 years is amazing Grand-Moogi. You must know somebody inside and out after that kind of time together.

Yep I guess we do know one another pretty well. It feels very comfy and homey. We can totally relax with one another which is great. My daughter once asked me how do you choose a husband and after some thought I told her she should marry someone who she believes to be a very good person. That means your value systems coincide and you can always have respect for one another. A person who is very good is also genuine. Useless information for her as she never married. Maybe it was too hard to find someone like that. I remember thinking before we were married that my husband's ideals were my ideal ideals. I really looked up to him for the things he believed in and the way he lived his life according to his beliefs. I knew I could trust him totally. And you know, being with someone like that never gets boring. On my 15th wedding anniversary, ie 30 years ago, I walked in to the office and said to my secretary, "It is my 15th wedding anniversary today" and she said "Oh how boring to be with the same person that long." I was a bit amused actually as anyone who knows my husband would never describe him as boring.

Grand-Moogi, to me, what you just wrote is an immensely romantic adn wise statement. I also wish it was something that young people today could hear more of.
Heck, I wish I'd heard it more, or seen i more, or understood it as a youngster. Might have saved me a lot of time.

Grand-Moogi -- I'm glad you were able to laugh at the secretarie's comment. I think it's pretty rude, but maybe it's also ignorant. My husband and I are celebrating our 15th next month and I consider myself lucky to have found a partner in life. I was in my 40's when I got married and though there are advantages to being single, I much prefer being married. Sometimes it feels like there are more downs than ups but overall we're great friends, have fun together, and are there for each other when it counts. Congratulations to you on your anniversary - it sounds like you have a wonderful marriage.
