Hi I'm new here. I have been knitting forever, spinning for about a year. I had knit a bit as a kid, and one year in college decided I wanted to knit a sweater, so I took myself down to the craft store and came home with a pattern and yarns for a fair isle sweater. The sweater that I made would have fit the average linebacker, but otherwise it was pretty darn good! The reason I mention it is not to say what a great knitter I am, but to describe my basic knitting philosophy-- that sometimes when you don't know things are supposed to be difficult, they aren't!
I'm still knitting like crazy but also really excited by spinning right now. I got my wheel for Christmas after spindle spinning for several months. I have produced my first actual skeins of usable yarn and am knitting a cowl right now with my very own handspun, which is a thrill. I'm starting to think about hand carding for the fun of combining colors...
Anyway, I tend to be a lurker in internet forums, but I'm glad to have finally joined this group! |

Yes, i sure am. I seem to specialize in knitting for myself! Mostly because there's less pressure! I did vow to knit my husband a sweater in 2012, however, so I'd better start thinking about that! |

Good afternoon from Cape Breton, Canada. I've been knitting since I was was around 5 and as I'm a senior that was not yesterday. At the moment I'm knitting for our provincial children's hospital & another charity.
Usually I don't post that much, but love all the tips etc.

Hi, from South Florida. So glad to see so many others have my addiction, which is to knit, knit, knit, and then knit some more. Wish I could find other knitters near me who like to sit, chit chat and knit, all at the same time. |

A big and sun filled Welcome and Happy Knitting, and spinning, from Southern California. Your enthusiasm is great to see!
I have spindle spun yarns and still love it. About three years ago I got a wheel, spun a tiny bit and quit. DH is a little disgusted with me but ceramics took back over my life. I'd meant to ditch ceramics.

Welcome from CA! I agree, so much less pressure knitting for yourself! I find I can sometimes stress myself out over projects that are gifts, so knitting for myself or my kids is much more relaxing. My family lives out there- Wyckoff. Love visiting them and taking trips to the city!
