Just reading the Ravelry thread and the thought occured to me.
There are a lot of members with Flickr accounts for their photos, we put links to our personal accounts in our sigs but would it be advantageous to just have a group that we post the photos to so everyone can see what members are doing without going through multiple links.
If I start a group would you add your photos?

If you start a group think about the guidelines that you want to have.
Do you want just knitting or is crochet OK?
Are WIPs welcome or just FO's?
How many photos can one person post per day?
How many photos of the same item are permitted? (do you really need 6 angles of a sock?)
I think it's a good idea especially for the KR members who don't want to be on Ravelry. It would give them a chance to "show their stuff". I love looking at everyone's photos on Flickr and on Ravelry. The KR group on Ravelry is really about the photos not the forums.

OK, here's my take on the "rules" - more guidelines and I'm open to suggestions.
1. If you are proud of it post it.
2. If you are going to talk about it on KR post it.
3. If there is a forum for it post it (knitting, crochet, stash, tools, spinning) Alternative is a group for knitting, crochet, spinning etc - we could start with 1 then if it gets too big someone with interests in crochet, spinning, machine knitting could start a new group.
4. FO one photo of the whole garment and one close up.
5. WIP - just one shot.
6. Stash acquisitions one shot.
Not sure about daily limits - does 5 sound reasonable?
I would recommend that discussions be maintained here and only photos posted on flickr - that's what it is designed for.

I'd be interested and willing to post. Would there be a cost we'd need to share? I don't know anything about flickr groups, only individual accounts. Should there also be a time limit for how long photos stay up?

no cost involved - I don't think there is an issue with photos remaining on the group page, they just move on to the next page, some groups have thousands of photos on them.

Feel free to add your photos.
For those that haven't used groups before, just click on the link and then click on Join this group?
Once that is completed go to your photos, open the one you want to post and there is a send to group icon just above the photo. Choose the group and click ok.

Thanks for setting this up, Wen, it's a good idea. I joined the group, haven't sent any pics yet, I'm hopelessly behind on my pics. Should we add the link to this Flickr account to our signatures, post the link in our messages, or have a sticky at KR?

Genius is a bit much! Bored on a day too hot to knit and playing with photos...
Can I have a couple of volunteers as moderators please - preferably someone from the US and/or Europe. As it is an open group it is possible that trolls could put up photos we don't want. The role of the moderator is then to delete the undesirable stuff if they come across it. I will check at least once a day but if someone who is on the other side of the world does the same thing no one will get their undesirable photos left there for more than a few hours.
