I'm writing from Southern NH. My mother's older sister taught me to knit, and my first item was the never-ending muffler, since she lived three hours away and I'd forgotten how to cast off. But I persevered. Largely self taught, and grateful for well-written patterns, I knitted lots of baby sweaters, then stepped up a level or three when my mother-in-law sent me, when I was a bride living on Okinawa, a kit for a fisherman's sweater that she had given up on. It's been a long and interesting road.

Signed onto the forum in search of patterns (thanks, Google)--who knows what interesting things may follow!

Hi Kansarkokie, Welcome from ChicagoI bet the fisherman's sweaters were fun to knit. I have read the patterns but haven't tried one yet. Donna

Hi Kansarkokie--

Another welcome, this one from Northern California. My, you just jumped right in, didn't you? I've been knitting for two years and have yet to knit a sweater. (Well, I started one last February, but...)

Welcome to the KF, Kansarkokie! I'm a mostly self-taught knitter myself! It was difficult for me to get to classes, so I got the books, yarn, & needles, & went from there. Looking forward to reading your posts here in the forums!
