Can anyone tell me if I have thought this thru correctly. I am looking at knitting the "Whisper Tunic" by Kristen TenDyke. The pattern in her book uses Louet Euroflax, sportweight, 100% Linen. I am thinking of using Fibra Natura Flax, DK Weight, 100% Linen. The pattern uses 2 strands held together. If I use 1 strand of the DK Weight and get the gauge called for in the pattern, is it correct to think that I would need 1/2 the yardage? It seemed too easy, so I'm just trying to make sure I calculated right. Thanks for any help or suggestions you might have.
I am also wondering if you're getting gauge but getting a more open/looser fabric and the original pattern had a tighter fabric. The only way I can think of to check is to do a swatch of each and make sure the Fibra Natura looks the same as the Euroflax. Sometimes that affects the finished look of the garment.
I see what you mean. I think I was thinking that 2 strands of sport weight would be close to 1 strand of DK. I'll have to do the 4 different gauges to make sure it doesn't change the pattern look to much. Thanks for your input.
I would check Ravelry as well, see what others have used.
