This week I received some new sample yarns from Westminster Fibers. The box included several yarns from the SMC label, and I confess I had no idea what that was. Innately suspicious, I went online to try and figure out who this interloper was. Well, turns out it's actually the fancypants name for the Schachenmayr folks - and they actually have a much longer, richer history than even I imagined. Which just goes to show...don't judge a skein by its label.
Anyway, one skein in particular jumped out at me. It was a rich brown but with a silky sparkle to it, nice and round like fresh spaghetti, made from a knitted tube. I've seen lots of knitted tube yarns, some with cashmere and angora, others with alpaca, but I don't recall many with silk.
Thus, I embarked this week on a review of this intriguing yarn. Enjoy!

| I really wish when contributors talk about needle size they would use metric/english/US sizes since there is an international following here & I am frustrated to have to find my conversion chart to translate waht was used. |

Oh Susan I am so sorry. The last thing I want is for you to have to rifle through your conversion chart every time you read a review. I'll make sure to be more mindful of this moving forward.

| That mythical cardigan you mention today .... you don't happen to have a pattern in mind, do you? (dreaming of the exact same thing) |
