Impossible to choose just 3...how about 3 in each of 3 categories?

Instructional:
The Knit Stitch by Sally Melville
The Purl Stitch by Sally Melville
Knitting in Plain English by Maggie Righetti

Inspirational:
Handpaint Country
Kaffe Fassett's Glorious Knits
Fair Isle Sweaters Simplified

A good read:
At Knit's End
Knit Lit
Knitting Lessons

Reading about knitting is almost as fun as actually doing it!

1. Weekend Knitting -- I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned this one. I love nearly every pattern in this book.
2. Last Minute Knitted Gifts -- again, indispensible for patterns.
3. Stitch n' beach: A Knitter's Design Journal. I have lots of books I use for design and math help, but this is the only one that's portable enough to go everywhere with me.

Which is the book that uses circular needles to knit a crazy kind of sweater using all the techniques you'll ever need? I'm going crazy trying to remember the name, or figure it out from the posts here. I know you know which one I mean...

1. Stitch n' beach
2. Felted Knits by Bev Galeskas
3. Any Laura Ingalls book that mentions Ma's knitting needles getting hot from knitting so fast

Vogue Knitting - it's my favorite reference book

How To Knit - Debbie Bliss

Bags, A Knitter's Dozen

I thought I posted on this thread last summer and was surprised to see I didn't. I also have to post a disclaimer. My three favorite books probably change form week to week. lol

My top two are Ann Budd's Handy Book of Patterns and the Sweater Book of Handy Patterns. As for a third, that might be hard to decide.
