I don't think it ever occurs to most people, that there are those who continue to learn to spin as a hobby. It's certainly not a neccesity. :) Atleast to 99% of the population!

I suspect this is one of these sweeping comments that only applies to us here in the developed nations? I can`t prove it, of course, but I bet there is a significant percentage of the global population that still hand spins out of necessity. Such as in India and Pakistan? (Think charka here!)
