I'm looking at the pattern for the Anne shoulder scarf in the August Knit'N Style. The pattern starts off with : CO 8 Rows 1-8 yo, knit to end
then it says you should have 14 stitches. If you start with 8 and add one for 8 rows, you should have 16, right?
Then it says Row 9 YO k2 M1R, place marker, M1R, k10, M1L, place marker, k2
So now I've got 2 make ones together - how do you do that? The pattern describes the Make 1 as using the strand between 2 stitches. How can you do 2 of those Plus, you have 3 increases on one side of the scarf and only one on the other end. the next row is yo knit across so that adds one increase to that end, but as you repeat these 2 rows it's going to be lopsided, but the photo looks symmetrical.
I'm so confused!

The instructions in the magazine are wrong, there are corrections on the web site www.knitnstyle.com.
I've made two of these, and the corrections definitely help.
