I'm a soon-to-be great-uncle to a hopefully bouncing baby boy who lives (along with the rest of my extended family) in the Chattahoochee Valley of west Georgia. I know that my niece won't be using a lot of wool in August, so I'm knitting something she can use: the bandana-style Baby Playmat from Rebecca Home 6. Here's a photo of the finished project:

Now, I'm HORRIBLE at getting anything finished on a deadline. Would anyone else like to keep me company on this project? The baby's almost here, and I'm only a third of the way done!

Matt.

Oh, and before anyone asks, the one pictured is a model from GGH/Muench, and oddly enough they wouldn't just let me give that one to my niece. Imagine!

Wow that's gorgeous. Sorry there are no little ones in my or my friends' futures, or I would join you. If you can't find any takers, how about just posting your progress here on a regular schedule? I'll cheer you on from the sidelines.

Hi, all. Thanks, Wanda.

I'm using the yarn designated in the pattern for once: GGH Samoa. It's half-and-half cotton and microfiber, and it's yummerly. I have to admit to being a real fiber snob just because of my access to really nice fiber, but I've been very impressed with the GGH cotton-acrylics (Bali, Samoa, and Goa in DK, Aran, and Super-bulky gauges respectively). Anyway, the entire blanket is knit in the navy Samoa, and afterward, you work cross-stitch in white Bali for the embellishing. No Intarsia. No Fair Isle. I love both, but I REALLY wanted this to move quickly. What I hadn't counted on was fourteen other things popping up in the meantime.

Anyway, Carson (my new great nephew) was born last Tuesday, and I'm planning on leaving to go for the great uncley visit next Wednesday.

I'm about a third of the way done with just the knitting part.

EEEK!

I do have tons of other stuff going on at the moment, but I'll post progress pics on my blog asap.

Wish me luck!

Matt.
