Am starting a Moderne Log Cabin blanket from Mason Dixon Knitting (trying to use up some of my stash before getting more yarn ). Those who are doing any log cabin designs -- am wondering what cast on you found most effective. I usually do a long-tail CO, but when i pick up stitches from the CO edge, it looks different (and not in a good way!) from the other edges. [**] Any suggestions on what might work better? thanks -- claire
Thanks for your replies. After posting this question last night, i got impatient -- oops -- i mean "inspired" and wanted to start right away. So i cast on using long tail. Decided that row 1 looked better than the cast on side, so i made that the "right side" -- it is working just fine. I had previously tried a mini version (washcloth) and now think the cotton was more of a problem than the cast on. Yarnyamy -- thanks for the crochet cast on suggestion. I think i'll give that one a try soon and see if there is a diference. claire
