I listened to this book - an unabbridged version. It was good and very "Tom Wolfe!' He is sooo wordy! Anyway, I was listening away and it got to some very "graphic" scenes - I was embarrassed in front of myself!!! It was good though - if you like his style, try "A Man In Full." It was even better!
I can't imagine how long it took to hear the unabridged version.
I liked the book although I kept getting the characters confused (the basketball team members especially). I know Wolfe did a lot of research on college campuses but the students he portrayed didn't seem a lot like the students I see...although when I described some of the plots to the Seniors in my class they said that the characters all sounded like freshmen.
Wolfe's The Bonfire of the Vanities is fantastic. But don't bother with the movie--it was awful. I'm reading Charlotte right now (but reading Ann Rule at the same time--fascinating true crime books, but you have to like that kind of stuff).
