The other day, I walked into my LYS and saw a new batch of interesting yarn and ribbons on the shelves (Luoise Harding, I believe). My throat constricted, tears welled in my eyes: I was in the midst of a joyous emotional moment over fiber! Does this just happen to me? It's embarassing. I skitter away between the shelves, clutching the yarn and hoping no one will speak to me until I wrest this under control. One does not want to slobber in public.
Another time in Camden, Maine, I was so effusive, so overjoyed by the sight of yarns I could not obtain at home, I almost hugged the poor yarn store worker. I don't know for certain but there could be some kind of charge laid against strangers hugging innocent yarn store workers. Most would understand, I know, but still...
I doubt there's a cure for what I have. I tell everyone I'm a determined-never-to-be-recovering yarnoholic. The only twelve step program I'm interested in is the one that keeps me moving towards the next yarn store.

I am oftentimes overwhelmed by emotion when I find an exquisite yarn, but rather than becoming effusive, I generally become stunned. Its some form of sensory overload. My feeble heart cannot take the ecstasy of the colors of malabrigo, nor the texture of Misti chunky.
