I was gifted this GORGEOUS approx. worsted weight yarn made up of one blue Corriedale single, plied with a white alpaca single. It's LOVELY.
I think I want to make something more than a hat with it, and I don't want to do gloves because of the white (which will get dirty quickly) but what else can I make with it?
Are there baby clothes that will work with those requirements? I have a few babies in my life now... though the handwash requirement is more than I generally want to give to first time moms like these...
Other thoughts?

Hmmm . . . I am very wary of making anything out of wool or wool blends for babies because there are a fair number of health pros (my Mom, sis, and sis-in-law among them) who are convinced that early exposure to wool increases the chances that a baby will develop a wool sensitivity. And babies spit up on the nicest things they have too, and their folks already have all of that laundry to do and all. So I think it's enough for a little baby jacket or vest, but I wouldn't use it for that.
I am fighting my current urge to felt everything and recommending . . .hmmmmm . . . either a scarf or some short socks I guess. I'm a huge fan of worsted-weight socks.

Yeah, I have the same thoughts about the baby clothes, Lanea. I was sorta hoping someone would pipe in and say "oddly, when you ply alpaca and corriedale, magic occurs and they become superwash on their own" but so far no one has been that helpful. Thanks, guys.
I like worsted weight socks, too, but it's two ply and not tightly spun, so I'm afraid they wouldn't last as long as it would take to knit them.
Because of the two colors (royal blue plied with white) it would knit up as a neat tweedy look, but won't take to stitch patterns of any kind real well without getting messy.
But a cowl, that's not a bad idea... hmm... have to think on that one... maybe some nice mindless knitting for the car or something...
Any other suggestions?

Do you like little bags/ purses? I saw one, although felted, in weekend knitting, really nice. I would not felt, because your yarn is lovely. Since you can make a small one, you can carry inside your purse. I have several very small ones, in crochet, from Acessorize, a store chain from the UK. they are lovely. Have a look for ideas : http://store.monsoon.co.uk/catalog/Welcome?catid=3 Hope it helps.
