I wish for a clear plastic flip case for circular needles. I can't keep track of what I have or where they are. I've seen other people with this case so I know it exists. My local ys doesn't have it, so I need to order it online. Any suggestions where? Thanks, Zanner
P.S. I also would like one for straight needles. |

I just bought a lot of zippered pencil cases since they are on sale now, and a 3 ring binder and organized all my circulars into that. It works well, and I spent less than $10. I know it's not as nice as the Ashland ones, but it works.

I created my own notebook version by using a 3 ring binder and page protector sheets. I use one page protector for each size and store both my circulars & dpn's. I attached a label to each page where I indicate the size & the lengths of the circs. The info on the label looks something like this:
Size 8
16"
24"
dpn
The page protectors are clear and everything is easy to identify. I also keep the protectors in numerical order. Its easy, cheap & ready to go.

I have the Ashland Sky Circular holder, but I really prefer the plastic "pages" that come with the Knit Picks needle set. You can buy the pages on their own. It is very similar to the do it yourself idea. These are just smaller, more compact. Easier to transport, but it is basically the same thing.
I thought the Ashland Sky holder was the answer to my circular needle problem, but the needles tend to pop out of their pockets. It has not really worked well for me. I like the idea, but the other solution is really better.
Try Knit Picks. You can buy the pages and they are inexpensive. You can buy their folder or you can just get a smaller notebook and put them in there.

Okay, read about the knitpicks pages and just took my credit card on another little spin. This has been the best weekend for knitting shopping. I am just having a ball treating myself. I figure getting a few of my wish list things makes up for not getting to go to the Fiber Fest. Ah well...I just ordered Elizabeth Zimmermans DVD as well as the pages for storing circs and hey...I like the new DPNs so I got another set. Did I mention my first purchase of Cherry Tree Hill on another site before that? and did I mention...ah, I better stop tell'in or I will add all this up in my head and faint. I had really better get knitting...hehehehehee LMAO!

A much cheaper alternative (although admittedly not as pretty!) is a bait bag. Clara did an article for the KR mag a while back.

I got mine at Dick's Sports, but I've seen them at Walmart so I imagine you can get them anywhere they sell fishing goods.
I actually have three of them, divided by needle size.

We went to the new Cabella's last weekend and I saw the bait bag...perfect for circulars. I didn't buy it cause I had already made one for hanging off the back of my door (out of two cloth placemats) but liked the bait bag.

I use a 3 ring binder and plastic pages that was made by Knit One Crochet too that I ordered from Patternworks. I even covered the binder with the same fabric that I made my needle cases with. I think that you can get pencil cases instead and bait bags instead to same money!
