I'm excited, too. I'm taking a class on Saturday (Norwegian Purl) and my husband is away for a conference, so I'm going to stay over in the area. Two fiber days!!

Guess what? I'm going too! I can hardly wait. It's a 9-hour drive for me, but worth every moment.
Be warned: Anybody spotted wearing a KR T-shirt will be stopped and hugged.

Maybe since there are a few of us we can try to meet up? I'm free anytime except Sat. afternoon.
I'll be wearing a KR t-shirt (unless it's freezing) and will try to remember to wear my KR purple-haired knitter pin, too.
(posting from London, where I went wild buying Rowan yarn, Clarks shoes, and Marks & Spencer "knickers" - my idea of a perfect business trip)

Clara! I don't have a KR shirt but if I spy one on someone else, possibly you, I'll go right up and introduce myself and give a hug!
Shelia, sounds like you're having fun!
And I'm even more excited now because my husband will be completely absorbed in making grappa with his friends (we make really good homemade wine so this is a first time off shoot experiment)and I feel great that we'll both be consumed with doing exactly what we love to do.

ACK! Shelia, did you already to go M&S?! That's the one and only source for my very very very very favorite morning tea, their Extra Strong Tea. I'll pay you in cash, fiber, maple products, you name it, if you happen to still be in London and haven't headed to M&S yet. (I agree, their knickers are the best on the planet.)
OK, let me think... I'll try to pilfer a Knit Happens T-shirt from the KR warehouse so that I, too, will be spottable. I'm meeting a friend at the Ideuma alpacas booth at around 2pm. Otherwise, I have no idea what I'll be doing except frantically acquiring WAY too much fiber.

Now I am bummed. I was going to go with my aunt, but she bought tickets to Italy before she found out when the festival was. So I made other plans and I can't go!! *sigh. Well next year my aunt will have her own sheep and I can come play with you guys!

Oh, Clara, I didn't see your e-mail until I was home last night! But, I have a colleague that is going over in the next couple of weeks, so I will ask if he is going to M&S and would bring a box back for me. Does it come loose or in bags, or which do you prefer if both ways?

Clara?! Hi there - thought you might find this link useful: http://www.britsuperstore.com/acatalog/Marks_and_Spencer.html
I recently moved to NY from Ireland myself, so I have to have M&S essentials and other home comforts shipped over to me on a regular basis!

I am soooo dissappointed!!!Ah, the *joy* of owning your own business...I had arranged this *day off* months ago so I could enjoy the fiber fest, well I am aprox. 10 miles into my trip and cell rings my manager does not feel well and wants/needs to go home So u-turn and back to work I go!!! I was fighting back tears all day( silly I know, but I really needed this break)and of course today is impossible for me to leave-which is why I planned on attending Sat. So, please gals give me all the details, on the bright side think of all the money I saved by not buying more stash jolene |

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaack.... And all I can say is WOW, what a fantastic time. I went with a dear old friend from high school (who just happened to be visiting from California and who just happens to be an avid spinner, what are the odds of that? ) and we filled up my car with fibers and yarns and yes, even an exquisite Shetland fleece. I tried to get the sheep into the car too, but its owner wasn't all that keen.
I'm sorry I didn't see anyone there. I got taken hostage by a Shetland sheep breeder and showed up late for my one rendez-vous (I'm so so so so so sorry Adrienne).
What a wonderful two-day experience being surrounded by like-spirited people. I was so dazed by the quality of the vendors (especially considering the number of vendors, which was huge) that I kept walking into people by mistake. "I'm so sorry, I'm in the zone!" was all I could say. (So if any of you bumped into a glossy-eyed woman who apologized for being in the zone, that was me.)
Personal highs for me: Sitting in a pen with three curious and affectionate Shetland sheep; overindulging at Persimmon Tree Farm, the Copper Moth, and Chasing Rainbows Dyeworks; and presenting my dear friend and festival companion with her very first cup of apple cider and her first apple cider donut. Does it get any better than that?
I'll have pictures and more details in this week's newsletter, but that's my Reader's Digest version.

p.s.-Jolene, you were with us in spirit. And yes, you saved a LOT of money by not going. Take it from someone who didn't... p.p.s.-Eileen, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for that link!!! M&S Extra Strong Tea is really available online through that store. Shipping is a tad frightening (6 boxes of tea for $41.70, shipping is $58.32), but that's beside the point. My world will never come to an end again without this tea. |

I drove 100 miles to get there on Sat., drove home and returned today. 400 miles but it was worth it. Phenomenal! Spent way too much money, but will enjoy every penny. Fell in love with an Angora goat and had a very enjoyable visit with the women from Copper Moth who inspired me to take up spinning. I'm exhausted but soooo happy. Cynthia |

I'll echo everything that has been said - a great weekend. And a Great Wheel followed me home! (well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it)
I'm sorry that I didn't see anyone from KR, it was so crowded sometimes I think I wouldn't have seen my own husband, if he had been there. I only bought selected fiber (2 smallish fleeces, some tencell, some merino/silk blend) and had a wonderful class with Beth Brown-Reinsel. Norwegian purl is the way to go - it has convinced the English knitter here that I may use continental, and finish the seed-stitch coat that is my biggest UFO.
