I didn't reallt think of it as anything odd until my neighbour caught me outside one morning draping hanks of hand-dyed yarn over my hydrangeas. Doesn't every one do that when they see a particularly gorgeous flower that connects with an equally stunning hank of yarn? Such scenes beg for portrait photography, surely. Why I personally haven't done this, I read several blogs where they do drape the yarn or finished project over a pretty plant. BTW, I do plan to do once, my garden is looking good.

Yes, I take my yarn out on a field trip occasionally...sometimes those balls of yarn can be very vain, don't you know? Besides, the neighbors already think I'm nuts. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/Busyhands/IMG_2385.jpg

I've been known to outside my apartment (big entryway garden!), and yea, I get weird looks. I never do at my parens house though since I don't think the neighbors have ever really noiced- or if they did, everyon in the area is weird, so...

i am so glad i am not the only nutty one,[crazy]i use to drape my woollens over the lavender bushes at our old place, now i am growing lavender in pots to drape them over, and the smell is wonderful when you wear them,i am also always putting hanks of wool over our plants to try to get the right shade, neighbours too far apart, but hubby and kids say i am naturally weird,so i am,be it.
Between tomorrow's dream and yesterday's regret is today's opportunity. |

Post script: just thought I'd let everyone know that, as of this afternoon, a squirrel tried to run away with my yarn. I had a basketful sitting on my deck as I merrily festooned a japanese maple. When I turned around, said fiber-friendly rodent was scambering away with one of my skeins of Tili Tomas silk. Luckily the logistics were a bit awkward for the creature so I could retreive the yarn before it became squirrel nest decor. So, there are deteriments...
I think living in Australia surrounded by hyper-inquisitive cockatoos and lorikeets might also pose a hazard... |

Hi Jane -[:00][:00][:00] - your last post made me laugh out loud!!!I suppose it could be easier to catch a squirrel thus encumbered than something that flies - we have tame possums living in one of our gum-trees out the back yard - thankfully they are nocturnal!!We do have bower-birds here too but (for some reason) they only like blue-coloured things!!Good luck with your yarn-draping!!Lucylocket |
