Some friends and I were goofing around last week, and decided that all those poor rejected patterns out there deserved a home. So I setup and created The Island of Misfit Patterns - http://www.islandofmisfitpatterns.com. It's a site designed to hold patterns and essays that do not have a home elsewhere.
We don't have submission guidelines, really. And we'll take anything. It doesn't even need to have been officially rejected.
We've got a couple of patterns up, if you want to check it out.

I think I want to design something for the site just to say I have a pattern up there. If only my Dead Grover Scarf wasn't just a simple garter stitch.......WAIT!!!!!
I might submit it and explain how you can make a version not using ung-dly expensive Ironstone yarn.....if you are interested of course.

Okay, I am so on this. I'm going to finish my misplaced cable socks and take a picture and submit! I'm darn proud of those lazy socks. They make me happy. They should make someone else happy, too!

That's my Cowabunga hat pattern up there, it was in competition with the Knitty approved hat Swell, at least that's my theory...and I lost out :( No matter Gail has given it a home on the island...and hey...no one gets kicked off this island.

You know, don't you, that this is such a cool idea that it may very well become way bigger than you could have ever imagined -- and you will have to quite your day jobs
Can you accept patterns as pdf files? If so, do you also want a brief description and photo that could be read before downloading the pdf?
Love the Cowabunga hat!
Good luck with this! claire |

I can't speak for Gail but she would prefer non pdf's because they make her life easier, at least for now. I just sent her another cute little pattern I made up that is great for scarf knitters wanting to stretch their wings a bit and learn a few new techniques. It's a small felted bag I call "Charm" check it out, it uses bangle bracelets as the handles and please keep in mind...the handles do not have to match!

I can take pdfs, if you just want me make a link to them. (I can host them as well) In that case, a photo and a short summary is fine.
If you want the entire pattern displayed on the site, outside of the pdf, sticking it in a word document or an email is a little easier, but I'm sure I can cope.

Gail -- I love your humor piece on how to felt acrylic! The website is well designed too -- I like the print buttons.

Thanks for a home for the misfits in life!

Okay, I made a button.
It's possibly the world worst button, but here it is:

Feel free to download it and post it on your own blog. :)
