| so, if I'm in a relationship and want to get out, does this mean that I only have to knit him socks, scarf or sweater and I'm home free??? I can see so much potential for saving $$$ doing this to get away.... |

LOL! Like Anita said...check out that blog! I like the knitted shorts, but I suggest a knitted thong...in wool...
That'll do it.

From what I understand the curse only works for a long term time investment project. A scarf of socks are short term so they don't work for the curse.

As gwtreece said, I think it only applies for long-term projects- I've knit my boyfriend a hat, and we're still together ;)
I think your best bet might be to just let him know you want out- no sense wasting all that effort and money when you might be making something beautiful for yourself that you'll appreciate, know what I mean? :-D

That presents an interesting idea for a new 'dear john' method...'well, honey, you see, I've realized I really don't love you enough to knit for you."

Wait a minute! Didn't it work for someone on this forum with a hat? The new girlfriend was wearing the hat? No! He was wearing the hat the new girlfriend bought/made and the love-hat was ... where?
Go for a hat. A really neat caddy-type cap, with a honky knitted brim.

This is all cute and funny, but seriously, it's best to learn early in life to just say what you mean with men. They really suck at mind-reading, and many of them can't even read body-langauge. If you ever want to have a successful relationship with a guy, you have to learn to say exactly what you mean and mean exactly what you say - or at least not get mad when he interprets your comments literally.
The best way to break up with a guy is to just tell him you're no longer interested in him. Playing games will only cause more and deeper hurt.
