the hand weavears guild is there. Marfa and I are both members.

I think the acronym is pghw which stands for philadelphia guild of handweavers. I don't have the link with me at home but I can look it up tomorrow.

purlewe,
it would be great if the hand weavers guild wasn't separate from the spinning guild! do they have both under one roof?
i'd love to hear more about this.

well there isn't a spinning guild in philly. there is the handweavers guild and they have spinning (classes as well as a monthly spin in night) as well as dyeing fibers etc. Marfa contacted them and then contacted me and we both joined together. Many of them spin to weave, but plenty more of them spin to knit. So that is how I've joined.

here is their link: http://www.pghw.org/

the only spinning shop in town is in lansdale. here is their info: Lambs Wool 32 East Blaine Street Lansdale, PA 19466-3839 215-361-9899

But personally I would drive the extra to go to the Mannings. They are near York, PA and they are fabulous.

As long as they have a spinning night. I always thought it was a neat idea for all fiber arts to happen together but most places i've been to have them separately.
I shall let Ashwin know.
I'll keep Mannings in mind too!
