I have just started the felted Dragonfly bag found on yarnmarket.com. It is listed with a base yarn of Iceland but I bought the equivalent amount in Cascade 220 since I just finished a felted project using it and loved it. In my previous profect (a medium tote) the pattern called for a double strand of Cascade and it has felted strongly. After testing my gauge with the Cascade for this project, I noticed that it is not even close in gauge and feels much to light (almost lacy) compared to the double strand. Would anyone recommend me just buying one more skein of Cascade and double stranding this bag or forgoing the Cascade and switching to the Iceland (I'm not sure my LYS carries it)? My LYS recommended the Cascade as a perfect equivalent bu did not say to double strand. I called for help but this salesperson if off for a week and they had no other recommendations. HELP!!!
I'd think you would want to double strand your Cascade. Most of what I hear/read about felting, the yarn is used double stranded. If you were happy with the felting of your other bag using two strands I'd say go for it on this one too! Happy felting. That's a cute bag, by the way!
