| I would like to know how other knitters like to see the picture of a pattern they are considering buying. I have seen sweaters displayed on hangers, real people, sticks across the shoulders, flat people-shapes, just kind of laying flat, draped over a chair, and some wire people shapes. I actually like seeing patterns on real people. What do you like or does it matter? |

| Multiple pictures definitely! I recently knitted a baby bonnet that was only shown from straight on, I had no clue what the pattern would look like other than that it used the same lace as on the jacket! If they included a small snap of the side view or a flat-on-table view it would have been so helpful. I think one pix should be on an appropriate "critter" (ok, person!) to give the idea of where the waistline etc will fall and how boxy etc the line is designed to appear. No fair pinning the back to make it fall right, like they do in fashion mags! I definitely do not like the hanging on a stick, since shoulder lines are not a straight horizontal and determine the entire "hang" of the garment. It actually distorts the garment from appearing the way it would on the slope and curve of a figure. So it is far worse than laying it flat with the shoulders properly laid out, imho.[blush] |

| I don't care as much whether it is shown on real person or otherwise, just SHOW the darned thing instead of getting into "fashion photography" in which the model's pose or sexy look is featured over the details of the pattern! some of the photos you see in magazines are great photography, they just don't show the entire actual knitted product. |

Some of the pictures these days make it impossible to see what a garment is all about. I just like to know what I'm getting into before I start something. Some of these pictures (and yarns used for that matter) really kill a patterns good details.

Good multiple photos on a mannequin or person and make sure some are close-ups. Say what size the mannequin/person is and what size the garment is. Must also have a schematic though.
