Having recently returned to knitting after many years away from it, I found in my carefully stored stash 3 balls of fire engine red Claudine - each ball is 687 yards! It's 80% acrylic & 20% wool, looks & feels like mohair, though. I'm eagerly looking for suggestions...clapotis? a couple of shawls in different patterns? something else? What a delightful dilemma this is! Thanks for any help,

Not clapotis, that involves dropping stitches, and if this yarn acts like mohair, that would be a nightmare. That's enough for at least one shawl, and a scarf to boot, maybe two shawls, or maybe just one huge-ginormous-honkin one.
If it's fuzzy like mohair, a lot of the stitch definition will get lost in the haze, so I'd stick with a simple stitch lace.

Thanks - the huge-enormous-honkin shawl is sounding good. Now, to pick the pattern....
