I just finished my first attempt at Kool-Aid dyeing and it came out lighter than I had wanted. Has anyone gone back and re-dyed their yarn? Do you just follow the original instructions? Should I use more Kool-Aid (I probably didn't have one packet per ounce, like Knitty suggested, but I used all I had.)
Thanks! Elspeth

Seems to me I saw four packets per 100 grams of yarn...which is only a little more than that. But why not try overdying? Kool-Aid is cheap. If it doesn't look any better, all you've spent is a couple of bucks and an hour or so.

I think I will. I didn't buy a lot because I hadn't done it before and I was actually buying for a swatch, not a whole skein, but I ended up using the skein instead. I think I will redye because it's way too coral for me and I was hoping for red or at least pink.

My first try I did all the red colors I could find from the Knitty article: black cherry, cherry, strawberry kiwi. My second time I just did black cherry and cherry and, not realizing it was actually blue, I used raspberry. So now I've got very patriotic yarn (I missed some spots).

| I think you could redye as much as it can stand without felting from the agitation/heat etc. Just move it well-supported in and out of the baths. Should be ok. |
