Knitting flowers for a scarf - suggestions?

I am doing a very simple scarf, in KS, and would like to put some small knitting flowers, beads, or any other detail to make it prettier.
Any suggestions? I have seen some flower pattern in crochet, but I dont know it. Was wondering if any of you could help me out with - simple - ideas.
