This is the scarf I posted about last week that ends up with 720 stitches on the needle. It took about four hours to make, and cured my need to have small, manageable numbers of stitches. Some of you had asked to see pictures, and I just got around to taking them. Here you go!

Rachel, that looks fantastic - what was the pattern again?

Cast on 90 sts Row 1: Knit Row 2: Knit into front and back of every stitch Row 3: Knit Row 4: Knit into front and back of every stitch Row 5: Knit Row 6: Knit into front and back of every stitch Row 7: Knit Bind off
I used less than two skeins of Trendsetter Dune with #13 needles. Apparently using larger needles and a thinner yarn helps the spirals. Glad you like it!

Very very nice! It only took 4 hours? Wow! I guess I must be really really slow. Maybe as I get better I'll get faster?

Love it, Rachel! I'm with you Vicky -- my hands would be working on that baby for maybe twice as long. I'm going to make one too - thanks for posting. RoseM

You might be surprised how fast it goes. I was. I was heavily motivated, because I was trying to finish it to wear it to a wedding (I got it done in time), but even so, I think it's a 4-6 hour scarf. There's nothing complicated to it. I was up to somewhere over 600 stitches by two hours-- it was the last row and a half and the binding off that took longest. And I'm telling you, I had never made anything that required me to cast on more than about 40 stitches, simply because I was afraid I'd never have time to finish a row. The one piece of advice I would give is to be sure you're using long enough circs! I didn't think about it carefully and used 24" circs, and I was really fighting with the stitches in the last row. I think longer needles would have made it easier. I like it, though-- it's fun to have made a scarf that 1) doesn't look like a rectangle, and 2) I was scared of making. :)

| This is the nicest one I've seen. The color variation makes it, I think. I've seems some of the white/beige ones and they seem a bit too reminscent of intestines to me. I like yours a lot and am now inspired to make one. Tonight, of course. (o: |

It's beautiful. Well done on conquering that phobia, even better that you have something gorgeous to show for it

| Your scarf is great! It inspired me to look up the Trendsetter yarns and I found that I really like the Aquarius yarns. Do you think the scarf would work done in a ribbon type yarn? |

That is so pretty! I might just have to make one too. I have desperately been trying to do something other than another scarf but I just can't resist!

Now stop it!! I just posted about my new resolution. (spend as much time actually knitting as I do here, reading, shopping for knitting)
Well...maybe if I finish one or two I can add this? It's beautiful, great work! S. |

Thanks for the sweet comments, everyone. My knitting teacher has made four or five of these, all with different yarns, so Dune certainly isn't the only choice. I picked it specifically to dress up an outfit-- I was going for warmth in dressing for a friend's wedding and needed to add a little sparkle. I think as long as it's not a particularly heavy or bulky yarn, it would probably work. The middle strip is the cast on edge, and then the other kabillion stitches twirl around it. If you make them, I'd love to see pictures!
