I am always looking for new and interesting sweater patterns on-line (in addition to occasionally buying good books). Here are some links I find useful; they are not so well known (I hope).

http://www.lanagrossa.de/index_e.html - this one publishes one new pattern each month;
http://www.rebecca-online.com/ - same is this - one pattern every month.

There is also Adriafil knitting magazine http://www.adriafil.com They publish quite a few patterns, however not too often.

Does anyone know other interesting sources?

Regards,
Tanya

You all have wonderful info. A knitting pal is often on the look-out for freebies - I have talked about the KR & the Forum w/her & will send this link to her. Thanks for the great sites!

I go to www.about.com/knitting a lot to use their free patterns and have learned some useful tips from that site as well.

Speaking of Berroco as Dot did, you can get a lovely brochure from them a number of times a year that shows lots of good things. At the moment I am reduced to that seeing as my printer quit. Actually I think there was always something wrong with it as it NEVER printed in color and I thought it was something I was doing. It left blank spots for the color. Now it just doesn't print anything. Grrrr!!! I didn't realize just how much I print. Beverley

Elann.com has some free patterns, plus they sell some at reduced prices. I love that site and bought their yarns about 3-4 times in the past few months. (I know, can I spell "obsessive?") However, what I do like is you can view their bargain-priced yarn, then go to the featured pattern that they recommend with that particular yarn OR find other patterns using the same gauge.

Now don't laugh, but garnstudio.com has HUNDREDS of free and very
unusual and "European" designs, but the instructions are in Swedish or Norwegian. HOWEVER, there is an on-site knitting translation glossary, if you are game to do that. If you are a relatively experienced knitter, you don't need to translate every word.
On the site, go to "design" for the patterns.
I also vote for berroco.com for great freebies. And lionbrand has lots of free patterns too, and you can substitute "better" yarn equivalents than those listed in the instructions.

Hmm. Can anyone suggest a better quality yarn substitute of Lion Brand Wool Ease chunky? Not the super thick one but the bulky one. I have a pattern for a top down cabled raglan from an old Knitter's that calls for it but I would like to use something else.

Anita, try elann.com--I have the newsletter for the October yarns, and you might want to look at Schachenmayr Nomatta Piano at 57% off--alpaca/nylon/wool 15st/4 inches on 10-1/2's 87 yds$3.68. Available now.
On Oct. 8, Elle Mohair 2000 55% off---mohair/wool/nylon 14-16 st/4 inches on 10-1/2's 109 yds $2.68
On Oct. 15, Elle Mohair 200 prints $2.93.
They are all soft and beautiful.

A few sites that let you browse by weight, gauge or fiber are:

Beverley, you wore it out!! Lol, just kidding! That's too bad... you'll have to try to find a cheap one now? We have a HP because my boyfriend used to do tech support for that brand (he'd rather have something he really knows than to try to fix something he's not so familiar with). Good luck! You can get a free mailing from Lion Brand, too, that has two free patterns in it (I get it only for the patterns whether they're free or I can buy them). Their patterns are a good price and they do have some good ones!

Gale, thanks very much for the garnstudio.com. They really surpassed everything. Now I'll have to find time to look through them all.

As far as Elann.com - they are my absolute favorite. They also offer $50 free shopping after you spend $500. Not bad!
