Knitting Friends,

There was a knitting article in the USA Weekend magazine supplement of our newspaper yesterday (April 6, 2002). The title is "In the Loop."

It talks about a Los Angeles yarn shop owner who noticed a resurgence in knitting after Sept. 11. She has celebrities who frequent her shop and she asked them if they would knit a square to be put together into a blanket. The blanket will then be auctioned off online to benefit Police and Fire Widows' & Children's Benefit Fund. About 40 stars have knitted a square.

To read more about it, the website is:

Happy Knitting!

According to that article, we can add Will & Grace's Debra Messing to the list of celebrity knitters - she's one I didn't know about, but I like her. Pleased to see she's a knitter, too!

This article was in my Sunday paper a week ago.
The bit about "knitting is the new yoga" really cracked me up.
