I made my husband a pair of socks at the beginning of last year. He loved them so much that I decided to knit him more. I knit 5 pairs throughout the year. He has worn them so much that they almost all have holes in them. I need to darn them. I tried darning one pair and I used the same yarn I knit them with but it was hard to see my stitches and I don't really like how it looks or feels. It is a thick spot on the toe area. Any one darn socks? Any tips?

The video and the article are both great! The article in particular gave different ways to darn. Now I need to get busy darning! Thanks so much for the information.

The latest issue of Twist Collective has a nice, comprehensive article about darning in it.

Knit and let knit!

I also have socks to darn and your query reminded me.
I watched the first video in this link, and it looks doable if I can find my darning egg.
I have read some knitters use a light bulb in lieu of a darning egg or mushroom.
