 Hi, I just found this forum, & decided to try it. I've been knitting for 55 years, & it's been my lifesaver for all these years. It's been a very calming thing for me especially on all those days when stree has been really high. I like to do alot of other crafts, but knitting is what I turn to all the time. I love doing knitting for charity. I used to work with blind people, & I taught all of them how to knit. They did it all by touch, but they actually were much better knitters than people who can see. I enjoy teaching people how to knit. I feel if it is such a stress reliever for me, it could be just as good for others. If there is anyone out there from Milwaukee who would like to have someone to knit with, I'm always looking for a knitting buddy. |

Hi and welcome from Baltimore!
Knitting helped me get through the death of my son from cancer in 2009. And so did the kindness and support of members of the KR forums when I needed to tell about how hard it was. The lovely people here helped me SO much!
So I understand what you are speaking of about knitting being a "lifesaver".

Greetings, Charitable! Welcome to the KF. 55 yrs- Wow! Looking forward to learning a lot from you here in the forums.
Knitting has been very therapeutic for me since my mother passed away 9 years ago & my sis 2 years ago. Keep on knitting'! . A balanced diet is a peanutbutter cookie in each hand!

Welcome to the forum! I couldnt agree more about knitting being your "go to" craft, especially on those trying days. I also enjoy knitting for charity, and have decided that this year I get to knit for myself and charitable causes.

Hi Charitable. I think it must have been very interesting to teach blind people how to knit. I imagine the learning process of a blind knitter must be, by the nature of things, different from that of the sighted, and that could make teaching very interesting--along with the fact that you were teaching knitting, of course!
