Re: Knitter's Review Poll

Do you prefer your circular needle cords fixed or interchangeable?

I answered "Fixed. Those joins are nothing but trouble."

However, I still interchangeable, a LOT. My collection of fixed in every size and length and material and brand was getting WAY out of hand.

My current favorite is the Knit Picks Options Sunstruck Wood Interchangeable Needle Set. Love the blonde wood. The multicolor wood ones were too similar to the yarn colors I use. I set up a 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" binder for them for ease of use and travel. Components are in sheet protectors and 3-hole velcro-closed envelops.

I also use my old Denise set now and then, when magic loop is not required. They will do magic loop in a pinch, but it's a cludge.

I like being able to change point and length mid-project.

HOWEVER, no one has been able to make interchangeables smaller than size 4 US. Would a "sock set" need fittings too small to be strong enough? Too small to see?

I wonder if they used itty bitty pieces of those rare earth magnets...could they get down to the smaller sizes and have them stick together? I know I can barely get those magnets off the refrigerator! Maybe they'd be strong enough to hold??

I have knitpro down to 3.00mm the join is too big for them to go any smaller as the stitches would have to stretch over the join. I don't think it would be possible to have screw on joins any smaller. There are now click on interchangeables, I wonder how small they could go?
