Posted - 05/04/2012 : 11:54:09 AM I'm knitting Nancy Bush's Leaf and Nupp shawl. I'm getting the right gauge, but I want the shawl to be longer. I know I need to add repeats but the border of the shawl is added on after by picking up stitches. How do I know how many stitches I will need to get only whole "points" along the border? Has anyone here knit this shawl? I tried ravelry and got no help there.
Here's hoping for an expert to help me out.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to spend a whole day with Nancy at an Estonian Lace workshop. She was quite open to getting emails via her site Woolywest.com.

Posted - 05/07/2012 : 10:59:45 AM Nicole, I don't have that pattern, but if it is one where the border is knitted on by picking up loops that are left along the outer edge, you would want to first calculate how many stitches are required for each repeat of a "point" section. You would want to add the number of repeats that adds the number of stitches necessary to get the number in a point. (Since the shawl is probably a triangle, whatever increases involved repeat on either side of a center, so whatever you do on one side is done on the other - voila! - you have 2 more points.)
Does that help?
