Posted - 12/22/2011 : 08:44:46 AM I discovered Martina Behm on Ravelry, and she has revolutionized my attitude toward sock yarn. I know that there are some excellent books about what to do with those unique skeins besides knit socks, but with Martina's "Hitchhiker" I had the breakthrough I longed for -- something to so with a fabulous hand-dyed skein that would work up fast, be fun to knit, and produce an accessory that everyone wants! I have made a dozen or so, and all have found good homes. I shared the link with members of my knitting group, and most have done a few -- one did 7 in one month! I hve also bought Lintilla -- for skeins that ask for a bit of a ruffle, and Nuvem (Portuguese for "cloud") to b knit with a skein of Wollmeise's Rattenscharf ("super-hot") bought especially for the pattern. Martina's shapes are original, simple, and the results are brilliant -- truly, a great designer! |
