Evelyn Clark's Prairie Rose shawl in The Buffalo Wool Co. lace, blocking away

Someone recently asked me if lace shawls ever needed to be re-blocked. The answer? A most emphatic yes.

Re-blocking shawls is a pleasant spring-cleaning ritual right up there with vacuuming the blinds and airing your comforter. Some shawls keep their shape much better than others, but all deserve to have their fibers cleaned and tidied up at least once a year.

This week I revisit blocking with a tutorial and a look at lace blocking wires, including some new, super-fine ultra-flexible ones. My only worry: Are they too flexible for the job?

This Week in Ohio
The Black Swamp Spinner's Guild is hosting its 27th annual Market Day on Saturday, March 24th, at the Wood County Fairgrounds in Bowling Green. More than 35 fiber-related vendors from Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana will be there.

In the Forums: Seasonal Effectiveness?
For much of this country, the winter was extremely mild. Martha has posed an interesting question: Did this moderate winter affect what and how you knit? Zola says no, but Lanea worked constantly on quilts and afghans. How about you?
