There's a lot to like in the latest issue of Rowan Knitting Magazine. For starters, there are over 35 new designs from Kaffe Fassett, Kim Hargreaves, Louisa Harding, Debbie Bliss, Susan Duckworth, Debbie Abrahams, Carol Meldrum, and Julia Ryan Dinner. That's enough to make me go out and buy the magazine. A Good Read I also appreciate the increasing amount of compelling editorial content Rowan adds to its magazines. This issue features a well-illustrated guide to intarsia, a profile of designer Mary Norden, and an inspiring article about the importance of teaching children to knit. The designs in this issue use Rowan 4-Ply Cotton, Cotton Glace, Handknit DK Cotton, Wool Cotton, All-Seasons Cotton, Denim, and the newest addition to the Rowan lineup, Linen Drape. Our Votes It's hard to say which of the patterns is my favorite. There's a cotton crochet bikini I won't be trying any time soon. But then there's a simple, lined knitting bag from Jane Bunce that may be hard to resist. Likewise, there's a rich brocade cardigan from Kaffe Fasset, beautiful stitchwork sweaters from Kim Hargreaves, and some extremely simple sleeveless tops I may have to try. If summer is your thing and you like to stay on the edge of knitwear design, you'll definitely want this issue. Where to Buy The issue is currently making its way across the country, so online availability is still sketchy.
