Popular Patterns


From booties to hats, purses, and tea cosies, felting offers almost limitless creative possibilities. Where do you start?

An easy way to try felting is by "fulling," or felting knitted garments. These patterns aren't always easy to find, depending on where you live. To help you get started, here's a compilation of some of the most popular felting and fulling patterns, with links to where you can buy them online.


Hats

hat Brimmed hat with three styles of brim. Knit on large needles (size ll) with heavy worsted-weight wool.

beret Felt berets knit in single strand worsted-weight wool. Pattern includes two band styles and several finishing ideas. We've tried this pattern and the results are excellent.

hat Felt earflat hat pattern. A toasty warm hat for children or adults. Pattern includes three child sizes and three adult sizes. Knit on large needles (size 10 1/2 or 11) with worsted to bulky-weight wool.

Mittens

mittens Snow country felted mittens. Sizes small (youth) women's and men's. Uses two worsted-weight yarns held together on size 11 double pointed needles. This pattern is one of our tried-and-true favorites.

mittens Suzanne Pufpaff's felted mittens have easy to follow instructions from start to finish. Pattern requires approximately 4 ounces of wool fiber to make a pair. Embellish them with bits of color design.

booties Charming animal felt booties shaped like rabbits, puppies, or mice. Sized for infants 0-3 mo, 3-6 mo, 6-9 mo. Uses worsted-weight yarn.
