 Keds-Style Shoe Ornament

Here is a little "Keds"-type shoe for your Christmas tree (looks best in red and white). For copyrights sake, here is its origin - a friend lent me a little stocking ornament in Christmas colours and asked me if I could work out the pattern so that she could knit some. So I did, and also adapted it into a little shoe-type ornament. So it's sort of original. It knits up very quickly. Have fun with it.

4.00mm needles + worsted weight yarn OR
3.00mm needles + DK weight yarn

WHITE: Cast on 48 sts. Knit 2 rows. Change to Red yarn

RED: K19, K2tog, K6, K2tog, K to end. Turn.

Knit one row even.

K18,K2tog, K6, K2tog, K to end. Turn.

Knit one row even.

K17, K2tog, K6, K2tog, K to end. Turn.

Knit one row even.

K16, K2tog, K6, K2tog, K to end. Turn.

Knit one row even. Turn. (40 sts)

You are facing the right side of the work.

K15, K2tog, K6, K2tog, Turn.

**Slip first stitch, K6, K2tog, TURN**

Repeat from ** to ** 7 more times (29 sts)

NEXT ROW: Slip first stitch. K6, K2tog, K to end of all sts on needle. Turn.

K2tog, K8, K2tog, K5, K2tog, K7, K2tog (24 sts). Turn.

WHITE: Working in stocking stitch, work 4 rows.

Work K1-P1 rib for 2 rows. Cast Off.

Sew together bottom of foot( = cast-on row) and back of shoe/sock. Sew in ends.

With White yarn, doubled, lace" up the coloured area of the shoe, using your slip=stitch bumps as lacing holes, and tie a bow.

Sew a loop of yarn to top back corner of shoe for hanging on tree.

Merry Christmas!
